Target by area and dwelling type, down to the route level
Starmail separates its carrier force by dwelling type employing different carriers for single detached houses, townhouse complexes, and apartment buildings.
If you have a type of business or marketing strategy that targets only a specific dwelling type, we can do that. Examples are companies in home renovation or lawn care that wish to target single-family dwellings, omitting apartment and condominium townhouses.
Smaller routes with carriers that live in the neighbourhood
Smaller routes allow the advertiser finer granularity in deciding where to deliver flyers. Targeting can be more precise and reduce delivery to inappropriate households.

After years of experimenting with various route structures and carrier force models, we have settled on implementing routes of approximately 90 homes each and, wherever possible, using youth carriers that actually live on their routes. Youth carriers that live on their routes are familiar with their neighbourhood and are often known by the residents they service. This results in more reliable delivery and better relations with householders. Where youth carriers are not available or are unsuitable due to geographic factors we employ truck and adult carrier teams. Over 90% of our metropolitan routes are serviced by youth carriers. |

MapInfo(tm) GIS database for distribution planning
GIS tools are used by many large retailers to gain insight into an area's demographics and plan targeted marketing strategies. MapInfo is one of the most commonly used tools.

Starmail maintains its own up-to-date MapInfo database of all London residences including single family houses, apartments, and townhouses. We use this database to optimize our route structure and ensure quality control. We also make the database available to select clients to plan their distributions. If your organization employs GIS market analysis and would like access to our database, we can provide the information in TAB, SHP, or almost any other format. You may then overlay Statistics Canada demographic data or your own customer sales data to plan marketing strategy and cost-effective distribution patterns. |

Multiple Quality Control Systems
To ensure that flyers are delivered on time and in good condition Starmail employs multiple carrier monitoring systems including telephone audits and mobile supervisors.

A team of telephone operators call over 2000 households each month. Where a householder reports irregular or improper delivery an investigation is initiated. Based on results of the investigation, corrective action is implemented. Follow-up ensures that the corrective action is effective. Each week on delivery day, GPS-enabled Quality Control vehicles roam city streets observing our carriers in action. At the end of the day vehicle GPS track files are uploaded to our web site. Up to siix months of data are retained online and accessible for viewing by clients. We ensure that all residential areas of the city are monitored by our roving supervisors at least four times per year. |
